Christmas in Worcestershire

The historic town of Great Malvern comes alive at this time of year with lots of free entertainment, shows and Christmas fairs. So whether you are looking for a fun-packed day of adventure or a relaxing day of culture we have it all.

On Saturday 29th November, Christmas begins with an afternoon of fun planned in Malvern Centre;  Santa will be in his grotto, a Victorian stilt walker will be performing and there will be many fairground rides and attractions to keep you entertained.  Face painting for the little ones, arts and crafts stalls for gift inspirations and lots of local produce to sample and purchase.  The Courtyard will be hosting festive children’s activities from 2pm onwards, and musicians and local choirs will provide seasonal music throughout the day.  As dusk falls, the popular lantern parade will commence and with the Christmas light switch-on we can officially start the countdown to that magical day.

Christmas is a time for everyone, including our four-legged friends. West Midland Safari Park has invited Santa and his Elves to make sure their animals don’t miss out. a visit to the Discovery Trail is a must, if you want to see snow this year!

Santa will also be visiting the Abbey Hotel on selected Sundays this Christmas, and bringing a special surprise gift to our younger guests. Our reasonable priced carvery lunches are served in the Priory View Restaurant, with children under 6 eating free.

If you prefer a more musical Christmas, Worcester Cathedral brings you a spectacular choral concert on 13th December. Indulge your love of all the seasonal favourites with audience participation, featuring the Cathedral Choir, Enigma Ensemble and Worcester Festival Choral Society. And for a cultural Christmas treat, the Bolshoi Ballet will be broadcasting the Christmas classic: The Nutcracker, live from Moscow at the Forum Theatre on 21st December. For more information visit the Malvern Theatres website.

The Abbey has put together a great deal for those of you who prefer a more quiet, relaxing Christmas. Our full board three-day Christmas break package starts at £345 per person,  and for a small supplement you can have that extra bit of indulgence by upgrading to a Superior or Executive room.  Book now to avoid disappointment; call us on 01684 879193 or email us at [email protected].
