Reviewed on 20th April 2024We did the online check in but ended up with a very slow check in experience at the actual desk. The main reason for that was that there was only 1 member of staff at 3pm on reception, and they spent ages with a customer ahead of us asking & answering questions as they had clearly not done the online check in.
More check in staff are therefore required between say 3 - 7pm.
We also found that prior to arrival at hotel, including the confirmation of reservation, we had no less than 6 emails that appeared to require attention - including a request to choose preferred breakfast time, then a message to say will let you know in due course, then a third (regarding breakfast) to confirm the time.
What a totally unnecessary ritual, just ask the client at check in, as it was impossible to just walk in and “collect keys for room” if online check in has been done. Various other questions were asked and a form requiring car details and signatures etc. so was not quicker in any way.
My advice is more staff and less pre visit emails.
The ‘free first drink’ if booked online/direct was a very nice touch.
Overall good experience once checked in.
Didn’t use as had own.
Didn’t know there was one???
Abbey Hotel very centrally located in Great Malvern.
Lovely evening meal and also good breakfast, particularly the choices. One addition should be, in my opinion, a bowl of chopped fresh fruit salad.
Clean and welcoming.
5/5comfortable but old fashioned
Reviewed on 20th April 2024The entrance to the Abbey is grand and you receive a warm welcome at reception. It is carpeted everywhere and is clean and quiet.
The decor is awful however, mismatched colours and styles mostly in plum and brown. It is full of clashing colours and patterns, nowhere looks planned. There was not one carpet, wall, curtain or furnishings that I found pleasant.
Our room which was upgraded had wonderful views from each of the windows both the town, the Abbey and the countryside beyond. It was clean and comfortable. Ideally I would have liked a larger double bed and a proper shower, it was one over a bath.
The breakfast was fine and there are eggs to order if you wish. The dining room has lovely views and the staff are attentive.
We had a bar meal and it was very generous and the bar staff friendly.
I hope you find this helpful.
I don't really know as I did not use it
I would have liked a larger bed and a proper shower not one over a bath. Ideally a power shower. I am afraid Premier Inns' bedrooms are better.
Cheerful staff and generous proportions

4/5Makes a stay in Malvern so enjoyable
Reviewed on 19th April 2024Have stayed several times at the Abbey - wonderful position, great public spaces and views, lots of parking. Rooms are comfortable and breakfast, though busy and buffet-style, still good.
Negatives - spate of emails that ask for pre-arrival check-in, breakfast reservation time and even online check-out.
4/5Lovely hotel with stunning views of Malvern Hills, efficient and friendly staff, large comfy bed, clean rooms and great breakfast.
Reviewed on 19th April 2024From check in to check out the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is located in a quiet spot overlooking the Abbey and the Malvern Hills with a nice selection of coffee shops, restaurants and independent shops close by. We had a great night's sleep in a large comfy bed. Lots of choice at breakfast with extensive hot and cold options. The surrounding streets and Great Malvern generally is very hilly so not suitable for people with mobility issues. The only minor downsides are the car park is located behind the hotel - very close by, but up a steep hill. Best drop luggage off at the door then park up. Drinks in the bar were quite expensive but probably on a par with most hotels. Good powerful shower was over the bath - I personally prefer a walk in shower cubicle but didn't express a preference on booking.

Reviewed on 19th April 2024The staff on reception were polite and very helpful.
The room I stayed in was lovely and had a beautiful view. It was clean, warm and the bed was very comfortable.
I ate in the bar in the evening and had the beef pie which was absolutely delicious.
I would certainly stay at The Abbey again.
Thank you .

Reviewed on 19th April 2024We stayed at The Abbey Hotel for three nights. The staff were polite and helpful in every way. We had dinner in the restaurant. It was absolutely delicious. The staff were very attentive. The breakfast was buffet style and probably one of , if not the best breakfasts I’ve had in a hotel! I absolutely recommend the hotel and I will definitely be returning with all my family.
Cut off a little bit

5/5Very comfortable stay and excellent staff
Reviewed on 18th April 2024Enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Partner diabetic, could not eat majority of desserts.
Cheese & Biscuits requested, and charged at £12.50. This was in place of, and not additional to a dessert, and
no concession allowed towards this cost for the dessert he did not eat.
Probably a minor point, but left a disappointing impression.
Could not find a parking space at the hotel when there was a wedding on the Saturday.
5/5Good food and great staff
