Hiding under the blanket, and curling up on the sofa away from the cold is not an option this winter. With top events and places to explore, Worcestershire is the county that is very much geared up and ready for the colder weather ahead. So if you’re wondering what to do during the upcoming months, here’s our top 5 places and activities we think you should make the most of Worcestershire this winter for you and children.
Clent Hills is the perfect destinations to take the family out for a short afternoon winter stroll. The Clent Hills is a favourite of the winter ramblers from nearby Midland towns and cities as they have stride through the route for over 200 years. The walk trails through woodland to the top of the hill, where on a clear day, you can see the Welsh Black Mountains on the horizon. The walk is one mile long and dog friendly.
Internationally, carpets that were woven in Kidderminster were well known and The Museum of Carpet, the only museum in the UK dedicated to carpet and carpet making displays the history of the importance of such heritage. The museum has lots of upcoming events including ‘Vintage Bunting Workshop’ on 5th February, where you can learn different methods of combining old vintage textiles into a unique heirloom of your handiwork from recycled fabrics. Tickets are on sale for £40 per person.
On 7th February, the ‘fangtastic’ rock show, Circus of Horrors hits the stage at Swan Theatre, just a 22 minute drive away from The Abbey. The infamous show is touring the world with amazing acts such as sword swallowers, demon dwarfs, strong men, whirlwind acrobats, flaming limbo, sensational aerialists and knife throwers. The show is now celebrating its 24th year on the road and it is not one to miss. Tickets are on sale now from £22 per person and can be booked online here.
Love Worcester Heritage Festival
On 19th – 22nd February, 9am to 5pm, The Worcester Medical Museum is hosting a 4 day festival to highlight the positive things in life and promote happiness to relieve stress. This event is free and suitable for all ages and focuses the mind on getting to know new people and places while enjoying and taking part in activities you love.
