Guy Fawkes Celebrations
Celebrate the exposure of one of the most nefarious plots against the government this November and watch the effigies of Guy Fawkes glow in our winter skies with the many firework displays in and around Great Malvern.
The first of the two major firework displays in Gloucester takes place at Gloucester Docks on 1st November; known as the Big Bang Fireworks Festival it certainly lives up to its name. Laser displays, music road shows and side shows compliment the explosion of colours and sounds promised at this popular, charity-based event.
On 8th November get yourself over to Cheltenham Racecourse where the largest firework display in the South West takes place. With over 10,000 people visiting each year this great location provides great acoustics and is ideal for younger children in pushchairs, as there is a hard-standing, covered area. Entertainment is provided by local radio and street performers weave their way through the crowds, fun fair and side shows for everyone’s enjoyment, all profits go to local good causes.
If you have younger children who would like to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night, but would prefer a little quieter entertainment then Elgars Museum has an afternoon of Firework themed crafts for them to enjoy. Between 12:00 & 16:00 on Sunday 2nd November they can create their own Guy Fawkes out of recycled material, construct a firework decoration or make a bonfire picture to take home with them. For further details visit the Elgar Museum website.
However you choose to celebrate, here at the Abbey we can offer a warm welcome and hearty meal in our Priory View restaurant. There are many chef’s specials to choose from including a hearty prime sirloin steak with hand-cut chips, complimented by our famous Malvern pudding, a real treat to make your evening finish with a bang.
