The Three Counties Showground in Great Malvern will once again be hosting the Royal Three Counties Show for the 60th year in a row. The annual event is a celebration of everything countryside and rural life, and this year it is set to be bigger and better than ever. The Royal Three Counties Show will be celebrating its diamond anniversary at the Malvern showground location with a hearty feast of farming, food and family fun kicking off tomorrow and lasting through the weekend. The Gardening Hub
Brand new for 2018, the Gardening Hub at Royal Three Counties Show is perfect for finding some inspiration for your garden or picking up some beautiful summer blooms. There will be local plant specialists on hand to give expert gardening advice, and Martin Fish will be there with his Gardening Roadshow. The International Orchid Show will also be there this year, featuring exquisite orchids from specialist growers in Taiwan, Malaysia, Ecuador, Holland, Germany, Denmark and the UK.
The Farming Village
Experience what it is like to be a farmer and see some of the finest livestock of the area at the Farming Village at the Royal Three Counties Show. This year will see around 120 different breeds of animals competing for victory in 25 judging rings over the weekend. Local farmers will be around to answer questions about what it is really like to be a farmer in the three counties, and share their amazing animal knowledge with the crowds. One event not to be missed is the sheep shearing competition on Friday and Saturday, where the most skilful sheep shearers from the country will be competing for victory.
The Cookery Theatre
The Cookery Theatre has been given a brand new look for this year’s Royal Three Counties Show and is located in the popular Food & Drink Hall. Top chef Matt Slocombe will be hosting the Cookery Theatre and cooking delightful meals from the produce found throughout the show. There will also be special guests including the producers from the Cider & Perry Festival; the perfect place for foodies looking for some cooking inspiration! As well as the Cookery Theatre, the Food & Drink Hall will have loads of the best local produce available to buy and sample, as well as the Cheese and Dairy Produce Show.
Shetland Pony Grand National
Every day of the Royal Three Counties Show will see the Shetland Pony Grand National take place in the main arena. It is guaranteed to be an exciting show as the Shetland ponies and their jockey’s race to the finish line, tackling miniature steeplechase fences on the way. All jockeys are aged between 9 and 14, making it a great event for the kids to watch. Other entertainment that will also be taking place at the main arena throughout the weekend include a courageous display from The Red Devils, the Grand Parade of Livestock and the Inter-Hunt Relay Challenge.
